My Favorite Outdoor Gear – 2020

I like gear, clothes, things. I try hard to buy things that last a long time and that reduce my environmental impact. I like things that can take a beating and look good long term. Here is my favorite gear of this year!

Outdoors

Wantdo Packable Lightweight Coat

I love the Wantdo jacket, I was skeptical that it would be warm enough or functional for outdoors. I also wanted something that packed up small for trips. While more expensive coats have their perks, this is a great option for under $60.00 that is sure to please!

Cascade Mountain Aluminum Hiking Poles

If you are newer at hiking, or need something for lighter trekking, these poles are fabulous! They are lightweight, they come with a variety of bases and are fully adjustable for your short, or tall self. They can take a beating and come back just great. The price is also great!

Teton Bladder Backpack

Bladder backpacks can be really expensive, and while investing in reliable gear is important, it’s also hard for those on a tight budget. This backpack is a great middle option for travelers and hikers.

Cherainti Hydration Bladder

Sometimes you ruin or break your water bladder…or lose the mouthpiece on a campign trip. This is a fantastic replacement bladder for any pack! I have yet to experience a bad taste, leaks, or other issues that can come with bladder.

Vasque Boots

Vasque boots were brought to my attention in 2019 and when my awesome Merrill Boots were no longer functional I gave these a shot. These are probably the most comfortable shoes/boots I have ever worn and they hold up to an entire day of hiking and adventuring.

Hiking is my favorite form of exercise. And in the last five years I have been through a lot to make sure I can keep going my whole life. Last week I fell and injured my wrist, which was a strong reminder to make sure I am safe and either traveling with someone or where others are and I can get help. Dozens of people die every year from poor planning and accidental injury. Even “experts” can end up lost, injured, and even perishing due to unfortunate unseen incidents. You can’t be too careful. Plan ahead. Carry a map. Stay on the trail. Read more in the link above – Stories.

LETSCOM Smart Watch

I love the concept of an Apple Watch, I don’t love the price tag or that you have to upgrade so frequently. I am a big apple fan, but for watches…meh. This is a great alternative for those just wanting a fitness tracker and to see if calls or texts come in. Notifications are customizable, and it comes in some fun colors!

Coleman Sundome Tent

I have been a lifelong fan of Coleman and every tent I have loved has been one. My current Coleman Sundome is an older model, but just as reliable and fantastic as the day it was out of the box!

Tents intimidate a lot of people, but they really shouldn’t! . . I always have had good luck with @colemanusa and their easy up options. What brands do you love!? . . Here are some of my tips to keep you sane: 1- bring a friend, solo tent set ups are way harder 2- buy a bigger stuff bag, easy in and easy out (I got a duffel) 3- make sure you have your stakes, hammer/mallet, and poles BEFORE you leave home. 4- remember to buy or bring your rain fly 5- follow the directions 6- practice, every time you set up it will be easier! . Thanks for adventuring: @hendersonwithem ⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ #gorecreektrail #campinglife #vail #whiterivernationalforest #adventurebaby #flyfishing #camping #nature #views #vaillive #glenwoodsprings #airstream #camplife #colorado #dailygrayj #denver #gorecreek #rockymountains #crosscountryroadtrip #coloradobaby #mountains #vailcolorado #vailvalley #coloradocamping

Ushood Shirts

I love these shirts, hand down. The company is based out of Boulder, Colorado and they have a focus on quality gear to last a lifetime. These shirts are moisture wicking, wind resistant, non-gapping, and have a built in mask and hood. They make the ultimate base layer for any outdoor activity you can imagine.

Eddie Bauer Leggings

Eddie comes out with different legging designs annually. Overall, I have found them to be reliable and comfortable with FUNCTIONAL pockets! I have beat the crap out of my leggings and they still look great, fit great, and make outdoor exercise all the better.
